Project Details

Welcome to the job of a bartender! Clock in and start mixing while the beat of the club takes you over. Patrons don't have all night to wait so hurry those drinks if you want a good tip. Earn enough tips and you can get a say in what everyone's jamming to.

Proof of Concept

Before my senior project began, I and everyone else in my class was given 1 whole week to develop a prototype. No scope or instructions given, just that there needed to be a clear game present that could be heavily expanded upon by a group of people for a full project. In this week I developed a game where you take the role of bartender in a very active and music banging club and serve as many drinks successfully trying to reach the tip amount of the night. In those 7 days I had something I was very proud of and was hopeful it would be chosen to become a full project as I had a lot planned out for it that was already within scope for a development time of 5 months.

Where it was heading....

Had my project been one of 5 that was chosen I had some substantial ideas of content already scoped out. Sadly it was not due to my instructors not seeing any meaningful use of level design which was entirely fair as each level would be a new environment where you tended the bar. I kept an old restaurant game in mind during my planning called "Burger Shop", with each level a new mechanic would be introduced having the player juggle more and more through the game. However having the game declined was a lesson to myself to remember what I'm doing, because while in concept it sounded like a good project it wouldn't have been good experience for practicing all the elements of level design.
